That's pretty low, even for NMB. IIRC this single had lower first week sales than those of the previous 5 singles.

The last 5 singles had better sales, with Kamonegikkusu only slightly better. The song is pretty good,so i think part of the reason lie in the Riripon center, shes not big enough to carry a summer single.

It's the not Riripo's fault. If management gives her an average single just with 1 outstanding coupling song, then the costumers will not buy it. Just listen to the lyrics... they are too hard to remember for a summer song. D: Team BII's and Team N's coupling song are just a fail... they don't let the member shine... :( And the gimmick is missing for this single.

" And the gimmick is missing for this single." No, it is not missing the single has HS tickets as always, but just like five members sold out all their rounds.

I think to imply that the center of a single has no impact on its sales is simply outrageous. Riripon herself is not personally at fault for the drop in sales (she didn't do anything wrong after all), but the management must have at least known beforehand that her appointment as center while still being relatively unknown would result in this. Still, they decided to push her so I think it's pretty clear they don't see it as that big of a problem.

Also, the song is perfectly fine. The lyrics are hard? I don't think it's that much of a difference compared to the usual 48G song. Then again, it's only my two cents.

Its not riripon's fault, but i guarantee her being a center at least have an impact on sales. Its just the mindset of some people, and you cant change that. The fact is that Sayamilky only have 2 years tops most likely, and this is the management way of taking a bet on future generation. If this translates for experience and getting them more sales in the future, then good. But at this point, can easily put this single in a disappointing bin, which is sad cause this is easily AKB group's best single so far.

Although i keep seeing people said the event tickets were less than usual,im not sure how that affect all this.

Handshake isn't a gimmick any more, trading cards are missing and even HS came 1 day later... so first day was very low... And they had the same kind of single called "Ibiza Girl" and it wasn't a big hit either...
"Durian Shonen" this part are you supposed to sing with... but it's not catchy and the focus of this song. The "Da-da-da" part grabs more attention with his boobs cams xD
Just look at Aitakatta or Boku no Eureka, they are quite simple to remember... where you sing the title :P (And the text in generell)

Not catchy? Strange. I find the song rather catchy haha. Also, why would you say handshake events are no longer 'a gimmick'? It is still pretty much one of the group's crucial events these days apart from their near-daily theater performances to reach out to their fans. Can't be holding major concerts or Janken tournaments every other day now, can we?
