The live-action Terra Formars movie official web site has updated the cast, former AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko will appear in the movie.
The live-action Terra Formars movie will be directed by Japanese filmmaker Miike Takashi (Ichi the Killer, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Yatterman, Tokyo Tribe, As the Gods Will, Crows, Mogura no Uta), the movie adapted of scif-fi anime/manga "Terra Formars".
Terraformars are evolved humanoid cockroaches
Terra Formars is a Japanese sci-fi manga/anime written by Sasuga Yu and illustrated by Tachibana Kenichi. The story follows that in an attempt to colonize Mars, scientists came up with an efficient and cost effective plan of sending cockroaches to change the Mars' atmosphere. Shinoda Mariko will cast the character "Oosako Sorae" who is based on manga/anime character Jaina Eisenstein, Jaina Eisenstein's ability came from the Pachyrhynchus Infernalis Weevil. When activated, her Insect Form granted her thick armor plating on her arms that was capable of withstanding and deflecting fire from the Roaches' stolen guns.

This looks more like Akimoto Sayaka's thing (action stuff) than Mariko-sama... and I haven't been following the anime scene very closely for the past couple years, never heard of this anime/manga.

ReplyDeleteI think it is because the character, somehow Mariko is more suitable than Sayaka.
Terra Formars is a quite popular comic in Japan and Hong Kong, I read the comic vol. 1 and vol. 2, it is an excellent action manga (well not a scifi one to me actually)
This is definitely a great news to Mariko-sama fans considering how popular Terraformars and the director and the other casts (oh and it's not Takei Daki but Takei Emi). I have a little heart attack when I read the other casts name XD

However I don't like they change all character to Japanese, the expedition teams is a multi-national team in original manga, but maybe it is hard to manage.
