Ok, now that I watched...
ReplyDeleteThere is something fuzzy in the first chorus, maybe the guy added it so youtube's ban scanner won't auto-erase the video (like some people mirror, speed or slow videos to avoid detection). Also, the white border hurts my eyes >.<'.
I really like Yuihan as vampire/dracula, the red lenses are nice.
Right at the start you can pause and see that Yukirin's makeup is quite elaborate, and looks even better with her eyes very open to contrast the darkness.
Now that I saw Miyazawa Sae (it is her, right? She seemed a bit different) as Michael Jackson, I wish AKB would recreate the Smooth Criminal music video with AKB members...
I'm not from the 70's or a disco enthusiast, but I'm willing to bet there are TONS of references in the video; all I could recognize was Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. But there are others (like the 3 pink glittering singers, or the pink & blue ones) that show up many times.
Another reference may be the old folk themselves, they really can do some moves; I think they were resurrected (huh? HUH?) by management and might be famous entertainers from that time. Where else they would find a bunch of geezers that can dance disco? And if they could, why bother to add them in first place?
Overall, I really liked the video... and if they can keep it relevant until Halloween proper, it might really become a double hit (now at launch and later again).

Here is an article from Oricon talking about making the music video. It talks about how members spent up to 8 hours getting into their costumes and makeup. http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2056820/full/ and I think it says that the older dancers used to go to the disco where the video was filmed, but they are just extras, my Japanese is a little rough but I think that is what it says.
ReplyDelete@Guiherme, I am actually old enough to remember some of the 70s and all of the eighties. To your question about references I too only detected the Michael Jackson and MC homages, the singer with the big afro, I think just references that time in Disco pop culture where many women wore their hair as big as it would go.
I thought MJ was played by Sayanee, or is it Sae?

ReplyDeleteI think the references are tuned to the japanese, we only get MC Hammer and MJ because they are the westerners of the bunch; the pink trio, the singers in white, the blue and pink duo, they all may be japanese entertainers that we never knew about, due to Japan syndrome.
