SKE48 member Matsui Jurina (松井珠理奈) announced she will revoke her concurrent position in AKB48 Team K, and concentrate on SKE48.
The announcement was made on AKB48 radio program ANN (AllNightNippon), the episode was aired in 21 October 2015.
SKE48 member Matsui Jurina joined AKB48 Team K as a concurrent member since 2012.
It was to be expected. I understand why she did it and even if she isn't an AKB member anymore, she is still going to get treated like one, she will still participate in singles, be included in events, and will still participate in TV shows.
ReplyDeleteWell look at Sashihara. She is in the least popular 48 group (by sales) but she is still number 1 in AKB. So I don't think it matters in the end.

ReplyDeleteHonestly I always felt the concept of concurrency was created with her in mind, to give a valid reason to include her in AKB related activities but also to prevent SKE fans from getting mad by taking one of their most popular members away. Over the years it got a bit ridiculous because her concurrency lasted far longer than anyone else.

With the newly made KKS, I think it's great that she wants to pay more attention to SKE. She and Oya are the only 1st gen members left. Such old coming members need to guide these younger ones to build the group. (Not like the 2nd/3rd gen can't do a better job either).
Finally... now if only Sayanee also canceled her concurrency then it will be a real battle between those four groups, but maybe it's still too soon?

ReplyDeleteHmm... will Jurina coming back full-time revive SKE48? They have been pretty much being side-stepped by HKT48 in terms of popular members, and popular songs (Yes, Sasshi had a lot to do with HKT48's success, but still). Besides Jurina and 2 or 3 other girls, I can't tell apart the rest of them, they are just like background static noise.

If you remove those 2 then hmm now i think it's time people turn their attention to other K members and this is the time for other team K members to definitely shine, K has lots of talented members they will make it.

ReplyDeleteI'm really glad Jurina took Rena's words to heart and wants to focus on SKE now. Instead of losing popularity, I think Team K's current members might actually thrive and profit from her concurrency ending. Without a major player like her in their ranks, their chances to shine and be noticed have just considerably improved. And they're really not all that shabby even after she leaves since they still have names like Sayanee, Kodama, Mii-chan, TanoTomu pair and some others.

Well, let me see... Sakuratan mentioned in her last SSK speech she wanted to "destroy" AKB (maybe something was lost in translation), now Jurina wants to "overpass" AKB). Uh? At any rate, I see HKT overcoming AKB far more plausible than SKE doing the same thing.
