The Live-action TV drama "When They Cry - Higurashi" is based on Japanese ACG series "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" (ひぐらしのなく頃に), the series is known simply as "When They Cry" for the North American release of the anime adaptation, written by Ryukishi07, and produced by 07th Expansion.
